Small Beginnings/How I currently do things vs. where I want to be:
Everything starts somewhere. Currently, the pictures below are the way I operate my system. The blue machine is an enlarger, the machine that projects the image from the negative onto the photosensitive paper. I take the papers with the latent image and dunk them in a series of chemicals which reveal the image by making visible silver crystals.
My goal is to use the scanning, printing, and tour portions to fundraise for a storefront where I can make this portion of the film photography practice to anyone who wants to learn at an affordable price. After all, a bathroom darkroom is not super appealing.
The Floorplan above is a visualization of my goal. Every tour, developing, and/or printing helps realize this goal. I hope to provide a place of community and art focused on democratizing art and self expression through a focus on affordability in what is frequently considered an expensive art/hobby. Art should be for everyone.
